In a Room Full of People, Who Would You Run To?

soulmate (2023)

In a situation like this, we've already imagined who will choose us, but what about if we were to pick? Among all the people we've met and known, including celebrities, is there anyone, a specific person, whom we'll choose out of everyone?

To be able to choose just one person is hard. You must think about it because that person could then be so special. The person you feel most comfortable with, where you can express yourself.

Normally, in the era of the internet, most would choose a celebrity. We might not know them personally, but the comfort they give us can make us feel more like ourselves.

Even though we might have a few people in mind, we are not too sure if they're actually the ones we'll choose. There is always someone who is just more special than others.

I already have someone in mind. Yes, just one person. Every time I get asked the question of who I would choose, my answer will always be the same. The person who made me, me. My first ever friend, my first long-term friend that I actually met and got to know in real life.

I remember that they were part of the shy kids, and I was pretty energetic when we were younger. The first time we saw each other, they were crying. I approached them first because I was curious, I even remember comforting them afterwards. That was the start of our friendship.

We had long years of friendship; they were the only friend that stayed with me until the very end, even when our roles were switched. They became enthusiastic, and I became more silent. We entered many friend groups and the only ones left until the end will always be us. Let’s say that we did believe we were each other’s soulmates, inseparable.

Then, those long years of friendship were on hold because the pandemic happened. I thought that we would stop being friends. Their friend group widened, and I preferred being alone. But after all we've experienced, and not entirely talking to each other in real life, we still remained friends. They're still considered my best friend.

They made me realize that not all friends have to chat every day to be friends. If you consider them to be your friend, then they are still your friend. We still get reminded of little things with each other, worrying when something bad happens to us and just exchanging our "how are you’s" when we get the chance to.

They're the type of friend I have that even though we barely talk, by chatting or any sort of communication, we will always still remain friends. They will always have a special place in my heart. No one can replace them, even if thousands of people try to befriend me. Not even my favorite celebrities can be exchanged for her place.

So, in a room full of people, once I see their figure, I will run to find them no matter how it ends. Even if the world finally comes to its end, they'd be the first person I will look for.

Ultimately, it's these deep connections that truly matter. They remind us that amidst all the chaos and noise, there is someone who sees us, understands us, and accepts us for who we are. It’s these relationships that anchor us and give life its true meaning. So, cherish those special people, hold them close in your heart, and never take them for granted.
